That space between studio and stage, is the place where the ephemeral, but transcendent, emotions that concern the dancer away from their moment of creation, subsists. I want to separate the artist from the art. But if the dancer can also be the dance itself, how can I possibly dissociate them? Dance is a mortal form of expression, which only exists either between the walls of the studio or the stage itself, leaving afterwards no tangible trace of its creation. But the artist remains, even if there is no physical evidence of their art. Therefore, I photograph them during their previous ritual to creation, or, after the dance has ceased. I try to capture the dancer naked from their roll as artists. |
