Daniela Merino was born in Quito, Ecuador, in 1977.  She earned a B.A. in Communication Studies and Art History at the University of San Francisco de Quito.

In 2003, she moved to New York city to study documentary photography at the ICP (International Center of Photography).  Since then, she has exhibited her work in Quito, New York, The Philippines and Italy.

Her passion for photography began at a young age, but it wasn’t until she graduated college that she pursued her true path.  Now, after working for different magazines and teaching photography, she has decided to specialize in film and media studies.  She is earning her Master’s degree at the New School in New York.
